Formed
in 1996 by Sulayman Al-Bassam and Virginie Gervaise, Zaoum
is an international grouping of theatre practitioners, musicians and visual
artists, dedicated to the production of exciting, challenging and innovative
theatre.
Led
by an Anglo-Kuwaiti director working alongside a core group of British
performers and a French scenographer, the company is in itself a celebration
of cultural diversity. Zaoum's projects vary hugely in scale, style and
location and have performed to audiences throughout the UK, and at international
festivals in France, Germany and Kuwait. ||||

Al-Bassam seems capable of taking on any theatrical convention, anytime,
anywhere. Watch out for the name."

I have seen done with Hamlet before he has been able to dramatise our
reality with a courageous
directness."
